Friedrich Nietzsche was one of the most provocative philosophers of our time. After Nietzsche famously announced "God is dead", he realised that the old values the world had used for guidance would slowly die. In this new time of uncertainty, his solution was to pursue excellence and create one's own values. A thought experiment designed to test whether or not you possess a strong, life affirming attitude was his idea of the eternal recurrence, where every one of your actions would have eternal significance. Let us use this video to understand this idea, and Nietzsche's Song of the Seven Seals in his book, Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
But was Nietzsche right? At the end of this video, I include a letter to Zarathustra, criticizing this view.
