In this video, we get a rare look of a Union Pacific Rotary Snow Plow as it gets moved through the Roseville Yard. SPMW 207 is one of UP's Rotary Snow Plows and it needs to be rebuilt in Iowa. It will now be sent across the country with this train who's symbol in the SRVCBW-16. This train consisted of UP 7523, SPMW 2207, UP 587, UP 566, and SPMW 207 (Rotary Plow) on a depressed flat car. It was a very interesting looking train and I am glad I caught it.
This train was not easy to catch as it only moved about ¼ mile all day. I spent most of my day in Roseville monitoring the train. It finally moved up through the yard which allowed me to get this video. It then sat for another 5 hours until "the hill" (Donner Pass) was completely clear. This train had a max speed of 60mph and therefore could mess with a lot of other traffic. They eventually left as it was getting dark and I was long gone by then.
It is very rare to see these rotaries move at all. I really enjoyed seeing this train and I hope you do to. I had to get permission from a UP employee to be inside the yard like this. I hope you enjoy!
Here are some of my photos of the rotaries:
