Описание: 13-10-2021 Het was weer een prachtige herfstdag vandaag, alhoewel hij deze morgen begonnen was met regen. We zijn een bezoekje gaan brengen aan de stad Sint-Niklaas. Ons bezoekje startte eerst met een wandeling door het stadspark: het Romain De Vidtspark genaamd.

Het park is een groene oase in de stad, waar het aangenaam toeven is in de zomer. Er zijn vele schaduwrijke plekjes, een waterpartij met fontein en kleine speeltuin.

Het stadspark heet officieel Romain De Vidtspark, naar de burgemeester die in de jaren 1950 van de vroegere kasteeltuin een stadspark liet maken. Het is ingericht als Engelse tuin. Centraal vind je nog steeds het 16 eeuwse kasteel Walburg, een waterburcht en nu café-restaurant. Het aantrekkelijke terras kijkt uit op de vijver met fontein en de sierlijke muziekkiosk. De bijzondere gietijzeren constructie met Moorse motieven is de enige in haar soort die nog bestaat.

Iedere zomer worden er op dinsdagavond in het kader van ‘Sint-Niklaas zomert’ gezellige en kindvriendelijke parkconcerten gehouden. Kinderen vinden in het stadspark ook nog een speeltuin met klimtoren en veertoestellen.

Eng: It was another beautiful autumn day today, although it had started with rain this morning. We went for a visit to the city of Sint-Niklaas. Our visit started with a walk through the city park: the Romain De Vidtspark.

The park is a green oasis in the city, where it is pleasant to stay in the summer. There are many shady spots, a water feature with fountain and small playground.

The city park is officially called Romain De Vidtspark, after the mayor who had the former castle garden turned into a city park in the 1950s. It is arranged as an English garden. In the center you can still find the 16 century Walburg castle, a moated castle and now cafe-restaurant. The attractive terrace overlooks the pond with fountain and the ornate music kiosk. The unusual cast iron structure with Moorish motifs is the only one of its kind still in existence.

Every summer, pleasant and child-friendly park concerts are held on Tuesday evenings as part of 'Sint-Niklaas zomert'. Children will also find a playground with a climbing tower and spring apparatus in the city park.
