Filmed on 1st of January 2015. Bärra (West wind) is an important and significant song/story for the people of Gälpu clan of north east Arnhem Land in Australia. Mr Gurruwiwi told me the story when I first met him in June 2002. Here, Mr Gurruwiwi and Vernon Gurruwiwi play yiḏaki (didgeridoo) part of the song.
The yiḏaki play demonstrates a typical Hard Tongue Didgeridoo (HTD) playing. The tongue position starts from “ḏ” - retroflexed position to “dh/th” - interdental position in phrase of “ḏith dhurrŋ”.
