This bonsai project started in June 2024 as a Juniperus squamata Prostrata (Himalayan Juniper), trained in a cascade style.
Over time, the tree outgrew its initial pot and reached a point where a proper cascade bonsai pot felt like the right next step.
In this video, I repot the tree into its new container. I deliberately remove only a small portion of the old substrate, trying not to take unnecessary risks with the roots. Simply changing the pot already gave the tree a completely new presence and balance.
This is one of those projects I take pride in — quietly. Not because it’s perfect, but because it reflects patience, restraint, and letting the tree guide the decisions.
As usual, I finish by applying moss to help protect the exposed upper roots and retain moisture.
If you enjoy long-term bonsai projects, subtle changes, and letting trees evolve naturally over time, you’re very welcome here.
Feel free to share your thoughts or your own cascade projects in the comments.
