BYD Unveils New Electric LCV Lineup, Targeting European Business Fleets

BYD has unveiled its latest lineup of electric light commercial vehicles at the IAA Transportation Show in Hannover, marking an aggressive push to capture the European business fleet market. The new offerings include the BYD E-Valli large van, designed for last-mile deliveries, along with the specialized EYT 2.0 Yard Tractor, the ETM6 box truck, and the ETH8 heavy truck.

BYD’s LCV range is tailored for urban logistics and business operations, aligning with the growing demand for zero-emission vehicles in Europe. The E-Valli, the lineup's centerpiece, competes with popular models such as the Volkswagen e-Crafter and Renault Master E-Tech, offering a strong contender in the large van category. The E-Valli’s versatility comes in two versions, with lengths ranging from 5,995 mm to 6,995 mm. It offers an impressive cargo capacity of between 13.9-17.9 cubic meters, ideal for businesses focused on parcel and last-mile delivery services.

Under the hood, the E-Valli offers both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options, paired with an 80.64 kWh BYD Blade battery. This battery provides a range of up to 250 kilometers, making the van a reliable option for short-distance urban routes, especially in congested city environments where emissions and fuel efficiency are critical factors.

The EYT 2.0 Yard Tractor is another key part of BYD’s lineup, designed for industrial use in settings such as ports, airports, and large distribution centers. This vehicle, although unlikely to be seen on public roads, offers a massive 216.7 kWh battery that can operate for up to 16 hours on a single charge. Its 349-horsepower electric powertrain enables it to manage substantial containers and trailers. The EYT 2.0 is built for specific heavy-duty tasks, setting it apart from the more road-oriented E-Valli and other LCVs.

Complementing these are the ETM6 and ETH8 trucks, both offering solutions for business logistics with a focus on urban distribution and environmental sustainability. The ETM6 falls into the 7.5-tonne category and is equipped with a 126 kWh battery, providing a range of 200 kilometers on a full charge. Its zero-emission capability and customizable chassis are key selling points for businesses looking to transition their fleets to electric vehicles without sacrificing practicality.

The ETH8, meanwhile, is BYD’s offering for heavier logistics and services, such as sanitation. This 19-tonne truck delivers a powerful 241 horsepower, using a 255 kWh battery to offer around 250 kilometers of real-world range. Its robust design, coupled with a fast-charging option that can recharge 20-100% in just two hours, is likely to appeal to businesses seeking both efficiency and quick turnaround times.
