In this video I take the viewer through what happened to my bike helmet when I crashed at 20mph (30kph) recently. We see the fractures, cracks and abrasions on the helmet that would have probably meant serious head injuries had I not been wearing it.
I didn't get away unscathed- I shattered my collarbone which has a plate, 8 screws and some bone-graft holding it together.
Initial X-rays showed I had broken my C3 vertebrae (this is the third vertebrae down from the skull), a further CT scan showed I had not.
