Higher than expected attendance at Melbourne’s Anzac Day march

Описание: The traditional Anzac Day march in Melbourne had gone through a rocky road with RSL Victoria initially cancelling the event but 4000 people marched to the Shrine of Remembrance on Sunday – a figure much higher than expected.

The march from St Kilda Road in the CBD to the Shrine of Remembrance was cancelled by RSL Victoria and then re-instated with limited capacity which gradually increased in the lead up to the event.

Although 1700 of a possible 8000 people registered for the march, 4000 people came out in force to remember Australia's diggers.

The limited ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance has now ended, but 85,000 people are expected to swarm the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the traditional Anzac Day match between Collingwood and Essendon.
