In this episode of LECSTalks! we feature Michael Katz, Research Astrophysicist at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, who recently gave LISA Early Career Scientists a talk about "An Introduction to LISA Data Analysis and the LISA Global Fit".
🎤 Tell us something about yourself
I am a Research Astrophysicist at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. My research focuses on preparing data analysis algorithms for the future LISA mission (ESA/NASA). When not working I like to relax and cuddle with my dogs.
🎤 What can you tell us about your talk?
The LISA mission is capable of delivering so much cool science. A main component of this capability is the LISA data analysis algorithms that will turn raw instrumental data into data packets useful to the astrophysics, cosmology, and fundamental physics communities. LISA data analysis is complicated because it involves simultaneous fitting of tens of thousands of signals and noise components. To do this, we develop an algorithm referred to as the "LISA Global Fit." In this talk, I discuss the current level of development across carious facets contained in the LISA Global Fit.
