Kenneth Eugene Smith's lawyers tried to appeal to the US Supreme Court - calling it a "cruel and unusual punishment". But justices declined to put a stop to it. Smith has already survived one botched execution in 2022. And tonight his lawyers have made a final, last ditch bid to halt this second attempt.
