Here Samuel and I build a platform out of inexpensive fencing lumber for our containers. Container gardeners maximize space by using patios and balconies and borders as places to grow. Almost any in-ground crop can be grown in pots and containers. But when you run out of space and start cluttering up the lawn, you need a better solution.
Here's what I did. I borrowed an idea from Gary at the Rusted Garden (Go look at his fantastic new garden and homestead) and built a simple platform for very little cost.
Here is the video of Gary’s garden showing where I borrow the deck idea:

This deck is made of standard fence lumber. Its not a walking or sitting deck, its really light weight so it can be moved around the yard to take advantage of different sun patterns. It suppresses weeds and gives a tidy place for your pots and containers.
Simple diagram/plan is on my Facebook Page.
Materials:
5 - treated 8 foot long 2x4s
15 to 18 - 5.5" wide fence planks (depending on how consistent they are in width)
Two inch wood screws
3.5" wood screws
