'Mending the Line' is an incredible film following Afghanistan War veteran, Colter (Sinqua Walls) who returns home from war while suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and is befriend by Vietnam veteran Ike (Brian Cox) at a V.A. facility in Montana where his elder brother in arms teaches him how to fly fish as a way of dealing with his emotional and physical trauma.

The film premieres on Saturday, October 22, 2022 during the San Diego International Film Festival with a screening time at 6:30 p.m. at the AMC UTC 14 theater.

I was able to speak with Director Joshua Caldwell and actress Perry Mattfeld about 'Mending the Line', how fly-fishing and horse ranching has helped returning veterans in dealing with their PTSD and the various charitable organizations that are out there for our wounded heroes.

Mattfeld speaks on her character Lucy being far more than just a one dimensional love interest truly being her own person in the film, while also having her own overall story arch.

Official Synopsis:

Colter, a Marine wounded in Afghanistan, arrives at a V.A. hospital in Montana and meets IKE, a crusty Vietnam veteran who sees elements of himself in Colter's self-destructive behavior. Ike begrudgingly agrees to teach Colter fly fishing, hoping it will help Colter deal with his physical and mental wounds. Their combined traumas and ''survivor''s guilt'' threaten to derail their healing process. But these men are fighters by trade. Just as an angler must correct his line when the current is pulling too hard, they battle to overcome their problems and pressures - finding peace while righting their pasts and presents.
