CKX 374F. 1968 Foden S36, was supplied With a Dyson lowloader trailer by Fodens, for Hoddesdon Plant Hire.
It was built to a Heavy Haulage spec; with a Cummins NH195 (220) 12 litre engine, Fodens own 12 Speed box, and 14 ton selective reduction rear axle (with click down hubs), and 12'' deep chassis rails, but was only rated at 32 tons gross.
Seen firstly en-route to the 1998 Lincoln Steam rally loaded with our machine trailer and cradled hosiery machine grossing at around 20 tons, then returning home through the rain.
Then after answering an add for classic lorries to help in noise testing at MIRA, to determine the effects on the hearing of driver's during the 1960's and 70's we are seen on the double straights of the test grounds, performing various tests, the tests should have been laden using their own loaded trailer, but unfortunately it was a modern trailer with a set back king pin, so when coupled we could not turn as the trailer would hit the cab.
