Felt play expands the imagination and can enhance pre-literacy skills needed to learn how to read!
Felt sets, songs and rhymes are geared towards children ages 2 to 4. We strongly recommend supervision if children under 3 are using the felt board. Small parts can be a choking hazard for children who still mouth everything.
Rhymes and Songs:
Where is Triangle (Tune: Frère Jacques) -
Where is triangle? Where is triangle?
Here I am! Here I am!
How are you today sir? Very well I thank you!
Run away! Run away!
(repeat with Circle, rectangle, square)
Shape Houses -
Some Houses are wood, and some are stone.
But let’s build one with shapes alone.
Start with a rectangle, but we won’t stop.
Add a triangle up on the top.
Now square windows, 1, 2, 3, 4!
A little circle just for fun.
Now our shape house Is all done!
Do you know what shape this is? (Tune: Do You Know the Muffin Man) -
Do you know what shape this is?
Shape this is? Shape this is?
Do you know what shape this is, and do you have one too?
If you do, then give it a shake, give it a shake, give it a shake.
If you do then give it a shake and shout out,
“Hooray for Circles!”
Final verse:
Now we know all our shapes, all our shapes, all our shapes.
Now we know all our shapes, let's all shout ""hooray"!
