The penultimate speaker in the Living One series “A Re-Enchanted World” is biologist and writer David George Haskell. David enchants us with a natural history of sound - from the first sounds in the universe, through 300 million-year-old crickets, to birds, mammals, and the first human musical instruments. He plays sound clips to encourage sensory learning as part of his fascinating and engaging presentation. In addition to exploring how place and past are evident in the sounds and song of animals (human and non-human), he explaines how human sound threatens to drown out the rich variety of the non-human symphony.
“A Re-Enchanted World” is the third Living One series of 2025, the culmination to our year-long theme Seeing the Unseen: Restoration through Re-Enchantment.
