CNY Street Dakwah Is CANCELLED In KL

Описание: Chinese New Year is supposed to be a time for reunion dinners, firecrackers, and ang pao envelopes — not unsolicited religious outreach at Bukit Bintang. But that is exactly what the Multi-Racial Reverts of Malaysia, led by Firdaus Wong Wai Hung, decided to do this year, setting up a tent in a public pedestrian area without permits and apparently expecting everyone to just look the other way. DBKL had other ideas, and what followed was one of the most telling moments of social obliviousness we have seen in recent memory.

What makes this story genuinely fascinating is not just the shutdown itself, but the reaction to it. Instead of acknowledging that setting up an unlicensed tent in a high-traffic area during a major public holiday is, at minimum, a civic violation, the usual crowd immediately reached for the tired script — DAP conspiracy, religious persecution, double standards. Never mind that enforcement waited a full thirty minutes for someone to come forward and explain themselves, and nobody showed up. Never mind that Article 11.4 of the Constitution, which keeps getting quoted, says nothing about the right to preach wherever and whenever you please. The victimhood narrative was already drafted before the tent poles hit the ground.

Here is the uncomfortable truth that nobody in that crowd wants to sit with: even Zakir Naik himself has said that the best dakwah is being a genuinely good example to your neighbours — not QR codes, not street tents, not yapping about shirk during someone else's celebration. If your outreach strategy requires you to insert yourself into a festival you have no connection to, among people who did not ask for your presence, perhaps the problem is not the enforcement agency. Good job, DBKL. Keep our city clean.
