7 wt fly rod was rigged up with 30 lb leader for snook or redfish. Next thing I saw was a boil in the water from a tarpon. Casted a Tom's Tantrum fly from Mangrove outfitters and the next thing I know, I am fighting a 100 lb tarpon. Watch the entire fight from hook, jumps to landing! Never in my life would I imagine that I would land a 100 lb tarpon with a 7 wt rod and 30 lb leader. Guide was Jeff Legutki (seen on last Spanish Fly episode with Jose Wejebe) and fished off Hell's Bay Professional. Filming this was guide Joe Des Rosier of Blue Lagoon Lodge in Rockport, TX. Initially Jeff said it was 80 lbs-ish, but upon rewatching video, he says definitely 100 lb tarpon.
