As a child this was my favorite thing I ever did in Mario Paint. I didn't get it into my first run of 100 on this channel because I could not reproduce a perfect copy of the version I did as a child, nor did I feel like my attempts were improvements. I gave it another shot today and while this isn't 1:1 with how I did it 30+ years ago, it's close enough that I'm satisfied. Enjoy! 🥊

I was a child when Mario Paint released on Super Nintendo. It was the first digital music creation tool I ever used, and I was hooked. It was a uniquely accessible tool for the times, which worked well for me as a young musician.
Mario Paint carries some serious limitations - no sharps & flats, only 3 instruments at the same time, no syncopation, and only 96 beats worth of music - that make it functionally very different from more modern music tools (or mods of Mario Paint). That said, I enjoy it - it becomes a fun puzzle to figure out how to finesse different pieces into sounding good within those limitations.
I've kept up making music here and there and recently thought it might be fun to make a full-on YouTube channel to share my work. Enjoy!
