Green Chimneys School

Green Chimneys School, a New York State 853 school, is designed for students in grades K-12 who have been unsuccessful in a traditional educational setting, and benefit from a highly structured and supportive program.

The therapeutic special education program incorporates academic, behavioral and emotional support in a comprehensive learning environment to help each child achieve new skills and confidence, and return to their home school district with the best chance of success. A professional staff of educators, social workers, psychologists, nurses, speech pathologists and occupational therapists, familiar with the complex needs of students in a special education setting, guide children in the development of coping and self-regulation skills and building upon their individual strengths, in collaboration with their families. Green Chimneys’ unique nature-based approach integrates animal-assisted activities, horticulture and outdoor exploration into therapeutic treatment and education programs.
