On April 1st, 2025, I woke up from my hotel in Eugene and began my trek north back to Canada, stopping at various crossings along the way. I first came to this crossing in hopes of catching one of Portland & Western’s switching operations in Eugene. I did not have to wait long before I managed to get this crossing in action with PNWR 2307, a GP39-2, doing switching moves.
This crossing is a great one, and I’m glad to have filmed it. Like numerous crossings along the line, the crossing features a pair of classic Safetran EM gates installed by the BN in the early 1970s. Since then, the original lights were replaced (with them being retrofitted in the late 2000s/early 2010s), and the original Safetran mechanical bell on the far signal was replaced with the current NEG E-Bell about a decade ago.
