Hey y’all! Today we’re Celebrating Mardi Gras in Mississippi!
Of course, when most people think of Mardi Gras, New Orleans comes to mind… and with good reason. But the Mississippi Gulf coast has a rich carnival tradition that dates back over 100 years. There are at least 28 parades spanning several weeks leading up to Fat Tuesday.
And Mardi Gras here has its own flavor…. I’ve been known to call it “Country Gras’”… even though there’s nothing country about what I’m wearing in today’s show.
On today’s show we’re riding with the festive mermaids — the Krewe of Salacia — in the Neptune night parade here in Biloxi. It’s an all-female krewe made up of professional women who love to let loose and light up the night with their magical powers!
