The Journey Begins: Gole dell'Infernaccio
The adventure starts at the Gole dell'Infernaccio, a dramatic gorge carved by the Tenna River. The name, which translates to "Gorge of Hell," hints at the rugged beauty and challenging paths that await hikers. This gorge is a gateway to many trails and offers an initial taste of the natural splendor of the Monti Sibillini.

Eremo di San Leonardo
Our first major waypoint is the Eremo di San Leonardo, a secluded hermitage nestled in the mountains. This hermitage is a testament to the area's historical and spiritual significance, often shrouded in mist and surrounded by dense forest, creating an ethereal atmosphere.

Tempio della Sibilla
Taking a short detour, we visit the Tempio della Sibilla, or the Temple of the Sibyl. This site is steeped in legend, named after the prophetess Sibyl, who, according to mythology, lived in a cave in these mountains. The temple offers a glimpse into the mystic past and adds a layer of intrigue to our hike.

The Ascent to Monte Priora
The climb to Monte Priora from this point is long and steep, testing the endurance of even seasoned hikers. The trail ascends through rocky terrains, alpine meadows, and narrow ridges, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. As we gain altitude, the landscape transforms, revealing the rugged beauty of the high mountains.

Reaching the Summit
Standing atop Monte Priora, at 2333 meters, the effort of the climb is rewarded with panoramic views that stretch across the Monti Sibillini and beyond. On clear days, it's possible to see as far as the Adriatic Sea to the east and the rolling hills of Tuscany to the west.
