Some info in regards to lotteries:
there are fake(joke) winning tickets(you can spot them because they do not have lottery agency name on them and their edges are well cut instead of real lottery tickets, which teared off at the time of sale),
chances of winning large prices are very VERY small, so small you can(and should) consider them 0(zero, non, nada, nottting),
in NJ lotteries are 4th largest revenue source ($2,7 billion in sales per year), in the US about $80 billion spent on lotteries yearly.
check official lottery web site for available prices, even though scratch off ticket may be saying up to $1,000,000 prices, some or most large prices may have been already claimed. Do not lose even before you bought your ticket,
check your ticket(s) carefully by yourself, clerks and scanners at stores make mistakes,
ask for annuity payout when buying ticket, in this case you would be able to chose annuity or lamp sum in case of winning. If your ticket says cash option you would not be able to change it to annuity, if you decide to do it,
if you hit jack pot, go to for example www.masslottery.com and see how many jack pot tickets have been sold and in what states,
if you hit big, first of all-congratulations, but be smart and careful, ask for a professional advice, talk to PROFESSIONALS(reputable legal, financial, tax advisers...)
