Rocket stove, based on a cooking concept of the 1850s, does not require LPG or electricity. As revisiting traditional roots is becoming a trend among families in the city now, many are keen to switch from their modern equipment to a more sustainable option. Abdul Kareem’s model uses firewood, coconut shells and waste paper as fuel, while reducing the emanation of smoke up to 80 per cent compared to traditional kitchen stoves. The stove provides a water heating facility and doubles up as an oven.
