About the Andreas Silbermann organ (1730-1732)
This instrument was one of the last organs built by Andreas Silbermann and involved early work by his son Johann Andreas Silbermann.
Today it is one of only two surviving organs by Andreas Silbermann that remain largely unchanged from their original state.
The organ has three manuals (Positif, Grand Orgue, Echo) and a fully developed pedal division, comprising 29 stops across 41 ranks.
Combining French Baroque fundamentals—like Plein Jeu, Jeu de tierce, Grand Jeu—with expanded pedal compass and support typical of Southern German instruments, Silbermann created a uniquely hybrid tonal system sometimes described as “French Baroque with a Southern‑German accent”.
Notable Stops:
Exquisitely voiced Cornet and Flûte registers. The rare Quarte de Nazard in the Grand Orgue for rich foundational color. A fully articulated Soubasse ouvert 16′ in the pedal system.
