It does not say what you heard from the left column. It does not say what happened to the woman at the workstation beside you, or the drawing her daughter made, or the child still waiting somewhere in the hive. It does not say what you thought when the boots stopped at other doors and not yours.
You survived.
The person you were before the boots — that is a different question.
This is the story of a loyal Imperial citizen who did everything right, believed everything they were told, and learned the one lesson the Imperium never admits it teaches.
