(15 Apr 2014) The sister of the kidnapped Jordanian ambassador to Libya on Tuesday called for the abductors to release her brother.
Khawala al-Etan said a Libyan woman told her the kidnappers would release her brother in return for the release of a Libyan prisoner by the Jordanian authorities.
Ambassador Fawaz al-Etan was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Tripoli on Tuesday morning.
They opened fire on the ambassador's car as he was heading to work, injuring his driver.
Libya has been plagued by kidnappings since the interim government took over, after the fall of leader Moammar Gadhafi in 2011.
