This is what the new Gen 3 LMP3s sound like: Toyota V35A V6-powered Ligier JS P325 testing at Imola!

Описание: The third-generation LMP3 cars completely escaped my camcorder last year. It's not that I was particularly eager to record them, I knew what we were getting into with yet another twin-turbo V6 in motorsport. But it was still something new to see, so I put them among the cars to consider. And here we are, at the beginning of the year, with a video dedicated to some new Ligier JS P325s testing at Imola Circuit ahead of the 2026 season. Ligier is one of the four chassis manufacturers for this new cycle, all four retained from the previous one (ADESS, Duqueine, Ginetta and Ligier).

In mid 2024 the ACO formally announced that 2025 would be the first year of the third generation LMP3 cars, with the significant introduction of a new Toyota twin-turbo V6 engine, replacing the previous naturally aspirated Nissan V8s. Built and prepared by ORECA, it's basically yhe 3.5-litre, twin-turbocharged Toyota V35A derived from the road production but with some obvious changes for racing use including modified turbochargers and a dry sump oiling system. The engine is able to produce around 470 hp and it'll be homologated until the end of 2029.
The Xtrac 6-speed sequential transmission with the same gear ratios has been retained from the previous generation, but the bell housing has been changed to accommodate the new engine. Upgrades to the car's cooling system were required due to the new twin-turbo engine, which also forced to increase the weight limit to 1,000 kilograms. Retrofit chassis and powertrain kits for second-generation cars will also be available.
