Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has hit back at sweeping 10% tariffs to be imposed on Australian imports in the United States, describing them as "unwarranted" and having "no basis in logic".

While Albanese confirmed Australia will not be imposing reciprocal tariffs on the US, he confirmed the government will be seeking to have the "unjustified" tariffs removed, threatening to use "dispute resolution" powers in the US-Australia free trade agreement in order to do so.

It was revealed yesterday that Australia has been considering taking the United Stated to the World Trade Organisation for breaching our free trade agreement and imposing tariffs on Australia in the first place.
