Sacramento may allow open alcohol containers in new nightlife zones
Sacramento leaders are weighing a proposal to allow open containers of alcohol in new “entertainment zones” downtown. The plan would let people walk between bars, restaurants, and public areas with drinks in hand. Supporters, like K Street bar owner Bob Simpson, say the zones would help businesses collaborate and attract crowds to events like concerts and fairs. But some, like downtown worker Lou Galgani, worry about safety and enforcement. The City Council will vote on the ordinance June 24.
