This song was recommended to me by a friend, and while my initial impression of the song, feeling like it was about someone speaking fondly to death, remains. As I continued listening in the days that followed, its meaning evolved to an almost adult Peter Pan/Neverland-like experience. So while it most certainly comes across as a song to death, and it does seem to come from a place of weariness and suffering, this request for respite, for relief, is approached so lightheartedly that I, too, am pulled in by this lighthearted melody.
