Simulation is about learning clinical skills but maybe what’s less obvious is that those lessons help students learn patient safety too. Things like referencing accurate patient information, adherence to protocols and guidelines and fall prevention. Nurses play a pivotal role in preventing errors, detecting problems early, and ensuring that patients receive safe and effective care. Simulation plays a big part in learning those aspects of the profession.
During 2023 Healthcare Simulation Week (Sept 18-22), students had a chance to run through a ‘Spot the Safety Error’ exercise. Now, it’s your turn. It’s simple: be on the look out for errors and trouble spots and see how many you can find. 👀✔
