Mixing From Start To Finish Series - Part 1: The Static Mix
In this video, we’ll cover the essential first step to getting a mix to sit just right - The Static Mix. This step alone can get you upwards of 80-90% of the way there.
Before reaching for any EQs, compressors, or effects plugins, we have to listen closely to all of the instruments in our song and how they work together in terms of volume and stereo width. We’ll cover the process of setting a baseline for our levels and how to dial in each of the instruments so that we have a strong foundation for the rest of the audio mixing process.
