February 15th 2026 The Alma Chamber Orchestra featuring Lauren McCarthy as soloist for Charles Griffes Poem for Flute and Orchestra.
I had the honor of bringing back the concerto competition at Alma college By performing this piece that is so dear to my heart. I have never been much of a solo performer, but when this opportunity fell into my lap I leaped at the chance. Now, more students at Alma College have the opportunity to perform a concerto in their time at Alma.
This was a year in the making, hours of practicing, listening, and honoring this piece. I am very happy with how this performance turned out, I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have. Music is my entire life, I am proud to be a Music Education student at Alma College so I can pass on my passion for music to young minds when I graduate and have my own classroom.
Thank you to my family, friends, and professors for believing in me and offering this opportunity with all the excitement and support for it. I hope you enjoy this performance for I am proud of this accomplishment.
