Finishing the Friendship Quilt - piano key border with "Plume" center

Описание: Today I'm finishing the free motion quilting on this quilt! Waaaaay back in July I was given this gorgeous friendship quilt made by a group of students and friends for my birthday.

Friendship quilts typically contain blocks with signatures and feature scrappy fabrics. The blocks are made by various individuals and then collected and sewn together into a cohesive whole.

My particular quilt was organized and assembled by Joan Parker (@shelby_quilter) and she used every scrap of fabric she was sent to create a pieced backing and a ready-to-use binding as well. Riches!

I began quilting it in this YouTube episode (https://www.youtube.com/live/t41a43ZN..., but it's large and not a one-sitting project. I had to move on to other things and so had to unload it off the longarm.

So once again, I'm loading it up, and hoping to finish it in this episode.

This time it'll include:

many of the signed blocks in the quilt center

the border quilted with “piano keys”

lots more of this “Plume” quilting design

and of course, an opportunity to ask questions about the whole project
