Lahore: An accountability court on Tuesday indicted PML-N leaders Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz in Ramzan Sugar Mills case.
PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif appeared before the Lahore court along with his son Hamza, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, in Ramzan Sugar Mills and Ashiana Housing Scheme.
They pleaded not guilty when the charge sheet read out to them in the court.
During proceedings, the prosecutor said it is a case of misuse of authority against the former chief minister.
A drain was built for Ramzan Sugar Mills, which is owned by Shahbaz Sharif family, from national kitty.
On this, the PML-N leader said that he saved billions of rupees during his 10-year tenure as provincial chief executive.
The judge remarked that the accused will given opportunity to clear himself.
Hamza Shehbaz was granted pre-arrest bail till April 17 by the LHC, which also restrained NAB from arresting him in cases pertaining to ownership of assets beyond means, until further notice.
Hamza was also directed to submit bail bonds worth Rs10 million.
NAB carried out two successive raids on Friday and Saturday at PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif's Model Town residence to arrest Hamza. A NAB team seeking Hamza's arrest had a nearly five-hour-long standoff with his private security and party supporters, with the situation resolving only after the LHC restrained the watchdog from arresting Hamza and granted him protective bail until April 8.
