Описание: Saúl Álvarez Barragán (born July 18, 1990), better known as "Canelo" Álvarez, is a Mexican professional boxer who is a four-division world champion.

He was born on the outskirts of Guadalajara, at the age of 5 his family moved to their current home of Juanacatlán. As unique child he garnered the nickname" Canelo" ; the Spanish masculine word for cinnamon, which is a common nickname for people with red hair. The youngest of eight children, seven of them boys; all of his brothers also became professional boxers. He started boxing himself when he was around 13 years old. In 2004, he won the silver medal at the Junior Mexican National Championships. He became the 2005 Junior Mexican National Boxing Champion at the age of 15. Álvarez turned professional the same yea because his trainers at the time, father-and-son team Chepo and Eddy Reynoso, were unable to find suitable junior opponents for him. In his first 19 months as a professional, he he knocked out eleven of his 13 documented opponents, all of whom were significantly older.

Álvarez is known as an excellent counterpuncher as well as being an overall complete boxer with a penitent for body work, he is able to exploit openings in his opponents' guards while avoiding punches with head and body movement. As of November 2019, he is ranked as the world's best active boxer, pound for pound, by BoxRec, The Ring, the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, and by the Boxing Writers Association of America.

He has held the unified WBA (Super), WBC, The Ring and lineal middleweight titles since 2018, the IBF middleweight title from May to August 2019 and the WBA (Regular) super middleweight title since 2018. He previously held the WBA (Unified), WBC and Ring light middleweight titles between 2011 and 2013; the WBC, Ring and lineal middleweight titles between 2015 and 2018, the WBO light middleweight title from 2016 to 2017 and the WBO light heavyweight title from November to December 2019.
