How to position your Arlo wire-free camera?
In this video: learn how the Arlo Wire-Free security cameras use passive infrared to trigger a video capture.
We will see how a proper setup leads to good motion detection coverage.
This video will not cover any aspects of the camera's wireless operation or configuration.
Arlo wire-free cameras use two main components to capture events.
A camera lens to capture the action, and a motion sensor to start the capture.
The camera has an optical field of view of 110 degrees. The motion sensor has an 80 degree detection field.
The passive-infrared motion sensor has an optimal detection range of 15 to 20 feet away from the camera.
Place it at about 7 feet high and aim the camera down.
Try to aim the camera in a way that the people cross the field of view at an angle, and not directly toward or away from it.
Try to have a cool background to let human heat signatures stand out clearly.
Pointing the camera to a hot area may prevent human heat signatures to be clearly detected by the infrared motion sensor.
