I spend my hours by
My machine
Pressing out parts nobody ever sees
With plugs in my ears
And oil in my face
The foreman telling me to
Pick up the pace
It's either hotter than Hades
Or colder than sin
Soon as I'm done I start all over again

Now the tariffs come in
We can't get steel
They're laying off workers
And they can't pay their bills
It's a wicked ol world where people can't get by
Times are getting harder
It don't matter how you try
And all the leaders
Are busy making policy
They're sipping champagne in their first class seats
Everyone else is getting poorer by the day
But they're playing golf and smiling all the way
The whole thing's a mess
But maybe that was their plan
Things are damn hard for a working man
My friend
Just lost
His car
It's hard to get to work he can't
Walk that far
And he's feeling
Like
He's lost
He spent the last dollar in the cookie jar

The stock market is up but the dollars down
The rich men making money don't
Spread it around
Inflation like a rocket straight to the sky
When a working man complains the rich roll their eyes
It's a wicked ol world where people can't get by
