Hello my Beautiful People! Welcome to a gorgeous Summer day in the garden! My friend Brian from Brians Upper Valley Artistry and I were talking about Sandwich Pours and how much fun they can be, and we decided to do an impromptu mini collaboration!
Let's get started!
You can find Brian's Upper Valley Artistry channel here:

His collab video is here: • Mini Collaboration with Mina Villegas~Sand...
I'm using a 20x20 inch gallery wrapped canvas from Artist Loft.
My Pouring Medium is Mix Pour. You can order Mix by emailing Krista at [email protected]
I'm been looking at some of the paints that I first bought and have been trying to use things I have that I haven't used for a while. I found these two beautiful colors from DecoArt: Berry and Soft Gold.
Colors:
DecoArt Americana Decor
Metallics
Berry
Soft Gold
Amsterdam
Quinacridone Rose
Bronze
Titanium White
Pouring Medium:
Mix Pour
Water
(to order Mix, email Krista at

There is NO Silicone
in Any of My Paint.
My paints are mixed as follows:
I start with 2 ounces of Mix in a 16 oz cup. I add an ounce or 2 of paint (depending on the paint), then stir to combine. Then I add more Mix Pour, between 6 to 10 ounces. I stir it well and then check consistency. If I want the paint thick I am usually done, because Mix is a lovely creamy, thick consistency. If the technique I'm doing calls for thinner consistency, I start to add a little water at a time, about a teaspoon or so. Stir well and check again, then repeat as needed. Once it's the correct consistency, I'm ready to pour with it.
The recommended ratio for Mix to paint is 6:1
A Sandwich Pour is fairly easy, and is a great way to use up small amounts of paints.
I pour about 2 ounces of white into my 16 oz cup, then drizzle the other colors on top of that in much smaller amounts. I then add more white paint on top, sandwiching the colors between the layers of white.
Then I think that that's a lot of white, so I decide to add another thin layer of Berry and Bronze, and add more white after that..
now it looks like a Parfait! 🍨
I Flip the cup onto a white basecoat and move it around the canvas to create movement. It's very pretty already!
I tilt it out to cover the canvas, and am happy with the composition for the most part. I see a few long cells that I would like to change a bit so I experiment with my Sarah Mack Smack Stick. I had already tilted out the canvas though, and there was not a lot of paint to play in. I add a few embellishments with my finger and then I'm done. I really like this piece!
It dried very quickly, because it has been very warm here, 90° +.. this is why I tilted to stretch the paint and only leave a thin layer on.
Leaving a lot of paint on your canvas can cause problems because the surface of the paint will dry quickly. Dry paint co
contracts and then causes the paint underneath to literally crack or split..
In the warmer months you can add a small amount of Golden GAC800 to your paints. GAC800 increases the drying time of the paints and prevents them from cracking that way.
I really like the way this Sandwich/Parfait came out! The bold Metallic Berry shines thru in beautiful cells and streaks, creating a very floaty ethereal feeling.
(This technique also creates a beautiful background for using stencils!)
I encourage you all to try a Sandwich Pour, they are lots of fun! Let me know how it goes!
