Jio Platforms Limited, promoted by Reliance Industries, opens its IPO for bids from 21 to 23 October 2026. Here's what the company's own Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) dated 14 October 2026 says, with page references.
The issue
A fresh issue of up to 27 crore shares. There's no offer for sale, so no existing shareholder is selling (RHP cover).
Up to ₹27,500 crore of the net proceeds is earmarked to prepay, in full or in part, borrowings of its subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL). The rest goes to general corporate purposes, capped at 25% of gross proceeds (p117).
That's 47.1% of RJIL's ₹58,375 crore of total borrowings on 30 June 2026 (p117).
The price band, lot size and the issue's rupee size aren't in the RHP. They're published separately before bidding opens.
The structure
Reliance Industries owns 66.43% of Jio Platforms (p103). Jio Platforms owns 100% of RJIL, which holds the telecom licence and spectrum (p30, p416). RJIL brought in 87.74% of FY26 revenue (p117).
The business (restated consolidated figures)
533.3 million customers on 30 June 2026; ARPU of ₹215.6 a month in Apr to Jun 2026 (p131).
FY26 revenue ₹1,46,885 crore and profit ₹30,049 crore (p76). From FY24 to FY26, revenue grew 15.79% a year and profit 18.43% a year (CAGR, computed from p76).
Deferred spectrum payments of ₹1,04,514 crore on 30 June 2026 sit outside borrowings, and the company's net leverage figure (0.36x in FY26) excludes them (p75, p128, p137).
How the categories work
Net issue: at least 35% for retail (bids up to ₹2 lakh), at least 15% for non-institutional investors, up to 50% for QIBs.
Reserved: up to ₹2,500 crore for eligible RIL shareholders and up to ₹500 crore for eligible employees.
RIL shareholder portion: open to individuals and HUFs who held RIL shares on the date the RHP was filed (RHP dated 14 October 2026). That date has passed, so RIL shares bought now don't make anyone eligible. Bids in this portion are capped at ₹2 lakh, eligible shareholders may also bid as retail without it counting as a multiple bid, and allotment is proportionate if oversubscribed (p12, p14, p73, p543 to 544).
If retail is oversubscribed, a lottery decides who gets the minimum lot (SEBI ICDR Reg 49(4) and Schedule XIV Part A). No category guarantees an allotment.
Risks the company lists (Risk Factors from p30)
RJIL holds the licence and spectrum, and the licensor can change its terms (RF 1).
Network disruption could hurt service and raise churn (RF 5).
Significant indebtedness, and growth depends on securing enough spectrum (RF 11, RF 25).
A Reliance group company is the sole distributor of its prepaid plans (RF 3).
