The Time Paradox That Helped Feynman Win a Nobel Prize

Описание: Do you think time flows like a river—always moving forward, never looking back?

It doesn’t.

The answer will break your brain: At the fundamental level of reality, the distinction between the past and the future is an illusion. An electron in your fingernail right now might be the same one that was in your coffee ten minutes ago... just traveling back from the future to visit you again.

In this video, inspired by Richard Feynman's legendary explanation, we explore the "absurd" machinery of Quantum Electrodynamics (QED). We peel back the surface layer of reality to find that nature doesn't follow the rules of common sense—she follows the rules of "Sum Over Histories," where particles explore every possible path before settling on the one you see.

How is that possible? To understand this, we look at the "Lifeguard on the Beach." Just as a lifeguard takes a specific, bent path to save a swimmer in the shortest time, light and matter "sniff out" the path of least action. But in the quantum world, this means the particle takes all paths—including the "zig-zag" paths where it turns around and travels backward in time, appearing to us as antimatter.

What does that mean for your reality? It suggests that the solid, stable world you experience is just a statistical accident arising from infinite temporal chaos. It leads to the dizzying possibility that every electron in the universe is actually just one single electron, weaving the fabric of space-time by bouncing back and forth through eternity.
