Dreadlock Journey: 1 Year

Описание: I finally made it to my 1 Year mark! I want to thank everyone for your support, it really kept me going even when I had thoughts about cutting it. This is a very special video for me because it has pictures and videos of my first two attempts at growing dreadlocks, and music in the background produced by me which I love to make! The first dreadlock journey started back in 2011 when I was a senior in high school. I thought it would be a cool hairstyle to try out so I got twisted up and then decided to go through with it. I made it to about 1 year and 8 months on my first dreadlock journey before I got the urge to cut them. It felt like a big weight was lifted off of my shoulders although I did regret cutting it sometimes. My second attempt at growing dreadlocks was in 2015. I decided to give it another attempt and I had a pretty good set of dreadlocks going but I wanted more of a taper in the front of my dreads. I kind of already had one but I thought it could be better and that is where I went wrong. When I went to get my retwisted, I had them take out my 2nd set of locs and I asked for them to take the taper back a little and they took it back too far. I rocked like that for maybe 2 or 3 days and then I cut them myself with a pair of scissors lol. The next day I went to the barber to get a proper haircut. After that, I got one last haircut on October 1, 2015 and then I started my third set of locs in May 2016. I asked for the taper in the front again and once again, it was taken too far back for my liking. I decided to stick with it this time and let it grow back on its own. I still felt something wasn't right so I started my third set of locs over for a second time. I know this is a lot lol but I told myself if I'm gonna do this, I'm going to do it how I want it or it's going to bother me to the point where I want to cut it again. I went about 3 weeks with those set of dreads and after careful consideration, I decided to restart my dreads for the third and last time. My reasoning this time was that I wanted thicker dreadlocks. I know it's down to personal preference but after having both skinny and thick locs, I can say that I like having fewer and thicker dreads because they are easier to manage. This dreadlock journey so far has truly been an adventure with its ups and downs. Now that I have made it this far, I have pretty much gotten through the rough stages so it's going to be pretty easy for me from here on.
