SEDONA Mountain Biking - First Trip to Arizona - Big Rock Single Track Bypass, HT and Slim Shady

I've been wanting to mountain bike the rocky red mountains of Sedona Arizona for years. This winter we finally booked a trip from the snowy Midwest and made it out there.

We rented bikes from Absolute Bikes in the Village of Oak Creek. Really nice people in the shop and they have a huge fleet of ‪@yeticycles‬ and ‪@pivotcyclesusa‬ . Definitely reach out to this shop if you're out there and in need of a bike. They gave us some good trail info and we were on our way.

We were unsure where to ride our first day. We were staying at the Red Agave Resort which is in the Village of Oak Creek and right at the Slim Shady trailhead. Since we didn't have a rack for the rental car we'd be riding trails close to our place.

The first day we started on the Big Park Loop in search of the Rabbit Ears trail. We found it very entry level and stopped another mountain biker to ask about other trails. Fortunately she was a local and really helpful in getting us to something a little more advanced. She directed us towards the Big Rock Single Track Bypass, HT, Llama, Templeton and Slim Shady. (If the person that helped us watches this video, Thank You!). These trails were more in line for what we were looking for based on our Midwestern skills. We were short on time so the first day we did Big Rock Single Track Bypass, HT and Slim Shady back to our place.

As a side note the town of Sedona is amazing. It has a really good vibe, nice people, very good restaurants, dog friendly, great trails, excellent hiking and lots of warmth and sun. One of the days we were there we hiked up to Chicken Point and checked out The While Line. We didn't see anyone ride it but I was more impressed seeing it in person than watching it on video...it's insane!

If you're looking for a great mountain biking trip, Sedona should be on your radar...especially in February!!
