Loud and Staccato—another tricky one to learn to play with some careful style and not simply hit the notes hard because it’s fortissimo. So, there’s a goal for you. To be successful, use your air as the impetus of your staccato notes. After all, isn’t the air what gives you your dynamics? The notes are not accented, so a hard articulation is not the key. But, realistically, since it is really loud, your tongue will be working hard, however, try to not let it be the sole focus of these notes. You do not want the articulation to overpower the sound. Beyond that, on this etude, keep it moving and really do extreme dynamics—it’s a lot more fun that way, for you and for anyone who might listen.
