Resident Evil 2 - 1997 Beta Police Station tour

Описание: Back in 1997, when it came time to ship the Resident Evil 2 demo, Shinji Mikami and the development team just dumped everything they had completed on the CD, and simply restricted access to areas they didn't want us to see, for obvious reasons. The Gameshark/Action Replay codes allowed us to break down these barriers and essentially play an early version of Resident Evil 2, namely the Police Station area. With a lot of work and trial and error of course. My source and invaluable help for this video was: "The Completely Unauthorized Resident Evil 2 Perfect Guide" by Versus Books.

What you are going to need:
First of all you need the "epsxe" emulator and the "Resident Evil 2 Preview" (or "Resident Evil 2 demo") iso.
Go to the Cheats folder, create a text document and name it: SLUS_900.09 (or simply run first the game with the Enable Logs selected, so that you can see what is the code name of the RE 2 Preview iso you have) and once you open that text, copy-paste the following codes as I show, with one line space after each code:

Start the game (run the iso), then before you actually start playing it, press Esc to pause the emulator, go to Options tab, open Cheats and Enable All. Continue the game. This will unlock all doors, you will be invulnerable and you will have the magnum in your inventory. It will read handgun, but you will have the Magnum alright. Just unequip it and re-equip in the inventory to unlock it. These will get you until 17:10 of the video.

To explore other areas of the game you must also add the following codes to the text document (and then start the game from the beginning of course because after 17:10 the game crashes):

Run the iso again. Don't forget to Enable All cheats before you start playing. You will start off from the staircase above the dark room. In fact you are stuck somewhere inside the background of the game. Turn on Walk Through Walls with L2+Up, then run straight forward. Leon will pop through the wall. Turn off WTW with R2+Up and descend the stairs. You'll now be in the brown hallway and Leon will be barely visible, rotate the character 180 and try to run towards the camera, you will pop out of the wall and now you can explore a big portion of the demo. Pause the game and disable all cheats, and then Continue.

To start from the beginning of Scenario B area, do as above but replace Sub Location last digit "C" with a "4" instead and try to pop Leon from the background with Walk Through Walls cheat by pressing L2+Up. Once you make it through press R2+Up. Pause the game, go to Cheats menu and disable everything. You are ready.

To access 2F Hall replace the two last digits of Sub Location with "10". For the Chief Irons office replace last digit of Main Location with "1" and Sub Location last two digits with "1B".

For the Basement area, Parking area, some miscelaneous rooms and a few cool angles of the camera, apparently for puzzles that were discarded from the final version, I used a different set of codes and tricks that is too long to fit in the description. If anyone is that interested about them, leave a comment and I will gladly explain it to you.
