"Rast Methal" is a musical composition by the Ottoman classical music composer, tanbur player, and song-writer Refik Fersan. It is also known as Musahabat-ı Musıkiyye and is a piece in the Rast makam (mode) with a Sofyan usul (rhythm).
Refik Fersan was a Turkish composer and musician, born in Istanbul in 1893 and passed away in Istanbul in 1965. He worked at Istanbul Radio until 1937, then moved to Ankara Radio in 1938. Later, he became a member of the performing ensemble of the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory and served as head of the "Scholarly Committee". His speciality was the tanbur, and he was an important representative of the Tanburi Cemil school. Refik Fersan is known as one of the most significant composers of classical Turkish music of the 20th century, and he was an important figure in the Romantic tradition of this music.
