Mafia II Synopsis:

Vito Scaletta, a decorated war hero, returns home from the European Front to find that things were not quite the same from when he left for war-torn Italy. Vito's estranged father had accumulated massive debt as a result of his alcoholism, and upon his passing, his debts fell solely on the shoulders of Vito's mother and sister. In hopes of paying off his father's debts and to stop the mob's intimidation on his family, Vito begins working with Joe Barbaro, his wealthy, ambitious childhood friend with close ties to the Clemente crime family in Empire Bay.

With Joe by his side, Vito works to prove himself, climbing the family ladder with crimes of larger reward and consequence. Blinded by greed, status, and the excess that money can buy, Vito and Joe's recklessness reaches a breaking point and they find themselves deeply embroiled in an all out war between the most powerful crime syndicates of Empire Bay.
