Jumbo circus, a branch of the iconic Gemini circus which was started in 1951, is now in absolute limbo due to COVID-19.The circus group, originally from Thalassery, Kerala.
We are stranded in Kerala since March 10th without any show or income.
At present, we have around 300 staff which includes artistes, clowns, costume designers, trainers, as well as an army of unskilled labourers whose families including children are solely dependent on this for their livelihood. We also have around 40 animals which includes camels, horses, dogs, macaws and cockatoos. We have a daily expenditure of INR 1.25 Lakhs/day.
As there is an uncertainty when the shows can restart due to COVID -19 pandemic, we appeal to all circus lovers to support us in this critical time to support the families of these artistes, revive and save this traditional art form. We humbly request you to render financial support to help the families of these artistes and preserve this art from extinction.
