Dave Iverson was a 59-year-old broadcast journalist & filmmaker newly diagnosed with Parkinson's disease when he made a choice he never imagined: he moved back into his childhood home to care for his 95-year-old mother. Dave’s new memoir, Winter Stars: An Elderly Mother, An Aging Son and Life’s Final Journey, is the story of their ten-year caregiving journey, lasting until his mom’s passing at age 105.
In this program, Dave will discuss his new book and our growing eldercare crisis. As more people consider caring for an aging parent at home, Dave offers intimate, honest advice about what lies ahead, including the challenges, choices, and unexpected rewards of caring for someone during life’s final journey.
